Battery safety in Dubai heat – what should I be careful about?

So I'm finally replacing my car battery this weekend and I'll be honest, I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing. It's not the installation that worries me, I'm taking it to a shop for that, it's more about the safety aspects that I never really thought about before. I've been driving for over 15 years and I've replaced batteries plenty of times, but I never really stopped to consider the risks involved, especially in a place like Dubai where the heat is just brutal on these things. I was reading online about how batteries can leak or even explode in extreme temperatures if they're not maintained properly, and that got me thinking about whether I've been doing enough to keep my battery safe over the years. I mean, I've seen those pictures of corroded terminals and bloated batteries and it's not pretty. A friend of mine actually had his battery catch fire a couple of years ago, thank God it happened in his driveway and not while he was driving, but it was a close call. He told me it was because the battery was old and the heat had caused some internal damage that eventually led to a short circuit. That story has stuck with me and now that I'm getting a new battery, I want to make sure I'm doing everything right to avoid any issues. I know there are things like making sure the terminals are clean and tight, checking the vent tubes if the battery has them, and disposing of the old battery properly, but I'm sure there's more to it than that. I came across a page that let me check out this safety guide for Varta batteries in Dubai vehicles, and it had a lot of information about proper handling, storage, and installation that I'd never really considered before. It talked about things like not over-tightening the terminals because that can damage the battery casing, and making sure the battery is secured properly so it doesn't move around and cause a short circuit. It also mentioned that you should never smoke or have open flames near a battery because of the hydrogen gas that can build up, which seems obvious but I've definitely seen people do it. I'm curious if anyone here has had any close calls with battery safety or if you've got any tips that might not be obvious to someone who's never really thought about it. I'm also wondering how often I should be checking the battery for signs of damage or corrosion, especially during the summer months when the heat is at its worst. I'm pretty careful with my car in general, but batteries are one of those things you tend to forget about until something goes wrong. Any advice would be really appreciated because I want to make sure I'm not just replacing the battery but also doing it safely and setting myself up for a long, trouble-free life with the new one. Thanks in advance.
